Car Accidents And Your Neck & Back
Car Accidents (MVA) Motor Vehicle Accidents & Your Neck and Back pains
Car accidents, also known as MVAs, can have a greater impact on your body than you might expect. Even a small collision can create stress and strain through the spine, particularly the neck. While you may feel fine immediately after an accident, adrenaline can mask symptoms, which often appear hours, days or even weeks later.
Common Symptoms
After an MVA, it’s common to experience neck pain, stiffness, headaches, and reduced movement. Some people also notice dizziness, fatigue, jaw discomfort, or pins and needles in the arms. These symptoms are usually related to soft tissue strain, joint restriction, or irritation of nearby nerves.
Whiplash – 4 Stages
Stage 1 (Mild): Small impact with mild discomfort, mainly inflammatory.
Stage 2 (Moderate): Increasing pain, muscle tightness, and reduced range of motion.
Stage 3 (Severe): Significant pain, restricted movement, and possible nerve symptoms.
Stage 4 (Serious): More severe structural involvement requiring urgent attention.
Why Assessment Matters
Following an accident, it’s important that neck ligaments and discs are properly assessed. Without the right care, minor issues can develop into longer-term problems. A tailored treatment plan helps address the root cause and supports lasting recovery, not just temporary relief.
Natural Support & Care
As an Osteopath, I use a combination of gentle hands-on techniques and a special range of homeopathic remedies (herbs) to help
-reduce inflammation,
-support healing,
-and importantly strengthen strained ligaments. (this is important after car accidents)
This approach can improve neck pain and help restore normal movement so you can return to your daily life.
