Neck Pain its Common Causes..Osteopath Nerang
Why it happens and what it means to you.
Tension and Posture
Neck pain can begin easily enough. Tension and tight muscles could be the cause. Long hours at a desk or hours spent scrolling on your phone are frequent causes. Also, review your bedding, is it good? Whats the condition of your pillows?...
Stress can cause tension, tightening up your neck and shoulders. This can lead to stiffness, headaches, and that exhausted tired feeling we experience. So are you stressed? Massaged and a little TLC goes a long way.
Sinus, Hay Fever, and Pressure Build Up
If you are struggling with sinus or hay fever, you will often find you have neck pains. Interestingly the sinus region in the face can be affected by pollens and by infections. With sinus issues and hay fever, neck aches are worse during flare ups. Sinus congestion creates pressure in the face..often with associated headaches, and neck pain.
Nerve Irritation and Arm Symptoms
There are occasions when nerves in the neck get irritated. When this happens they can cause:
- Pins and needles in the arms
- Weakness in the wrists
- Burning or shooting sensations
This can happen because the neck vertebrae and their discs can affect the nerves traveling to your arms and hands.
Osteoarthritis and Natural Degeneration
As we age, the neck joints change with degeneration. This is arthritis. It is really a case of wear and tear. We experience stiffness and restricted neck movement. Sometimes with pain, yet in others, they are pain-free. Interestingly, weather changes can adversely affect some patients.
